My Skysurfer Pedal

If you’re looking for a reliable review of TC Electronic Skysurfer Reverb pedal, don’t worry – you’ve come to the right place! I’ve been using this guitar effect for a while now and I feel like I’m in a good spot to share my thoughts with you. It’s a really popular and affordable pedal, but is it actually worth it?

Yes! TC Electronic Skysurfer Reverb pedal is a great choice for both beginners and more advanced players. Although it’s not as cool as the famous Hall Of Fame pedal by the same manufacturer, it still offers great sound quality and three types of reverb: hall, spring and plate reverb.

Let’s dive deeper with research and find out what makes this pedal so good. I recorded a little video review for you to check out, so you’ll be able to hear how it actually sounds. In addition, we’ll see if there are any good alternatives for people who won’t like the quality of the Skysurfer.

My Experience With Skysurfer Reverb

I bought this pedal a few months ago and to be honest, I didn’t fall in love with it immediately. It took me a while to find my own favorite reverb tone, but I can honestly say after all these months that considering its price, it’s a really good and versatile pedal.

From the outside, the pedal looks pretty good and it’s simple to use. It is worth mentioning that it is built like a brick – the construction is really solid and durable. It won’t break easily, so it should definitely last for years to come. That’s a really big plus – especially if you’re on the road.

When it comes to sound, it’s really versatile due to three different types of reverb – spring, hall and reverb. All of them sound pretty good, but personally – I like the plate reverb the most. You’ll be able to achieve a lot of different tones with that thing, but for me it sometimes becomes too splashy (especially when you turn the knobs to maximum). Still, a lot of people are going to really appreciate it.

As I mentioned earlier, I recorded a video review with a sound demo for you to check out. If you enjoy this kind of content, make sure to subscribe to my channel – there are lots of reviews of pedals, amps and guitars.

It sounds pretty good, right? I used a Stratocaster for that short demo, but it sounds even better when you’re using a Jaguar or a Jazzmaster. I think that this short review proves that it’s a really good choice for playing indie and alternative music.

Specs & Pricing

The Skysurfer Reverb features a classic construction with three knobs (Reverb, Mix & Tone) and one 3-way switch. It’s available in a light blue color, which symbolizes its surfy, summer vibe. In addition, it features a true-bypass circuitry, which is also really important. To use it, you’ll need a 9V battery or a regular guitar effect power supply.

When it comes to pricing, it’s really affordable. In fact, it’s one of the most affordable reverb pedals available on the market right now. Considering the low cost, the quality of this pedal is awesome! I don’t think you’re going to find something better at this price level. I wouldn’t call it a bargain, but it’s not either overpriced or underpriced.

Who Is It For?

In my opinion, this pedal will be perfect for both amateurs and more intermediate players. If you’re not familiar with reverb pedals and you’re looking for your first one, it should be an excellent choice. But if you have a bit of experience and you’re looking for something really special, it may not exactly fulfill your needs.

TC Electronic Skysurfer Reverb pedal will be a particularly great choice for all indie rock musicians out there. If you like such genres as surf rock, alternative rock, dream pop or lo-fi – you’ll definitely going to enjoy it.

Also, the solid construction and high durability makes it a really good choice for a lot of touring musicians. If you play in an indie band and you’re looking for a reliable reverb pedal that’s going to last until the end of your tour, you should definitely consider the Skysurfer.

Any Good Alternatives?

Although the Skysurfer is a pretty good entry and mid-level reverb pedal, some people may prefer using something better. If you don’t like the sound of this guitar effect, don’t worry – there’s a few good alternatives out there.

Firstly, I totally recommend checking out Fender Marine Layer Reverb Pedal. It’s one of my favorite reverb pedals of all time and it features an absolutely amazing sound quality and a few different reverb types. It’s a bit more expensive, but it’s definitely on a higher level than the Skysurfer.

Another option is TC Electronic’s Hall Of Fame. It’s a far more complex guitar pedal that offers a maximum versatility of tones. The only problem with it is that it’s significantly more expensive.

Lastly, if you’re specifically looking for a good spring reverb, you should definitely check out TC Electronic Drip Spring Reverb. I own that pedal and in my opinion, it sounds much better than the Skysurfer with the spring reverb turned on. Nevertheless, the Drip pedal doesn’t include any other reverb types, so it’ll work well only for people who are looking particularly for spring reverb. It’s a great choice for indie and surf rock musicians though!
