If you are not familiar with guitars made of koa wood, you should know that their tone is usually really crisp. These sparkling highs and strong mids are just out of this world! No matter how experienced you are, you’ll notice that this guitar sounds very special.
What’s important, the manufacturer equipped that model with the ES2 electronics which allows you to easily use that guitar during live gigs. Choosing a brand new high-end acoustic-electric guitar isn’t easy. If you’re thinking about getting one of Taylor guitars, you should be aware that the K224CE-K DLX is not the only amazing guitar in their offering.
In fact, quite a lot of guitar players also consider getting the 214CE and 214CE-K DLX models. But which one of them is actually the best?
The truth is that it’s really difficult to choose a clear winner of that battle, because all three of these guitars look and sound absolutely fantastic.
Personally, I’d choose the 224CE-K DLX. There’s just something really unique about that all-koa construction! However, the 214CE-K DLX and 214CE DLX also sound really good.

The only disadvantage of the P5DC model is the price – it’s pretty much on the similar level as Taylor 224CE-K DLX. Nevertheless, it’s definitely worth the money!
Alternative Option #2 – Martin DX Johnny Cash Signature Edition
Martin DX Johnny Cash Signature Edition is an another excellent acoustic-electric guitar that exceeds all the expectations. In comparison with the 224CE-K DLX and Takamine P5DC, this dreadnought model is far more affordable.
Overall, it’s a well-made and great sounding guitar suitable for a lot of different styles of music. You don’t even have to be a fan of Johnny Cash to notice the high quality of that inexpensive model!
In my opinion, this guitar offers an exceptional value for the money. Since the vast majority of other Martin guitars are really expensive, this model seem to be a real bargain. That’s why I highly encourage you to check it out!
Alternative Option #3 – Gretsch G5024E Rancher
Gretsch G5024E Rancher is an another amazing acoustic-electric guitar suitable for guitar players of all levels. This is a great guitar for performers, but at the same time it will work well for all amateurs who are looking for their first acoustic guitar.
In my opinion, finding a better acoustic-electric guitar at this price level will be extremely hard. It has everything you need – it sounds good, it looks fantastic and it feels amazing too.
I have no hesitation in recommending the famous Rancher to all musicians who are looking for a good and reliable guitar of this type which doesn’t cost thousands of dollars.
