Additionally, we’ll also see if it has any potential flaws. Hopefully, this guide will help you figure out if this guitar is a good fit for you.
Squier Affinity Jazzmaster – Specs & Pricing
Squier Affinity Jazzmaster is an affordable offset electric guitar designed for the most demanding guitarists out there. This particular model has absolutely everything that you need from a guitar at this price level.
What makes it so special? Well, the guitar features a lightweight poplar body and a comfortable maple neck with laurel fingerboard. There’s also a 2-point synchronized tremolo bridge and a pair of Jazzmaster single-coil pickups which offer a lot of versatility when it comes to sound.
The tone of Squier Affinity Jazzmaster can be described as bright, clear, balanced and punchy. Whether you like clean tones, a subtle overdrive or high gain, this guitar won’t disappoint you!
It is also worth mentioning that the Affinity Jazzmaster looks absolutely fantastic from the outside as well. There’s something really cool about that unique body shape! It’s also available in two color versions: Burgundy Mist (with white pickguard) and Lake Placid Blue (with black pickguard).
When it comes to pricing, it’s totally affordable. Although it’s not the cheapest electric guitar manufactured by Squier, it’s still a budget-friendly model. Surely, a lot of guitarists will appreciate the low price of that particular model.

Who Is It For?
Squier Affinity Jazzmaster is suitable for both amateur and more intermediate guitar players. No matter how advanced you are on the guitar, you will definitely appreciate the high quality of that model.
For those who are not aware, Jazzmasters are generally really versatile guitars. As a result, they can be used in a lot of different genres from blues and rock up to indie, grunge and metal. But since it’s an offset guitar, it’s particularly loved by surf and alternative rock guitarists!
It is also worth mentioning that the Squier Affinity Jazzmaster is not overly expensive, which means that it’s within reach of any guitar player. Even if your budget is really tight, there’s a high chance that you won’t have to save up for a long time just to get that guitar.
Overall, the Affinity Jazzmaster offers an excellent value. It’s affordable, it looks fantastic and it sounds extremely good as well. Isn’t it all that really matters in the end? That’s why I highly encourage you to check it out!

HH Version
What’s important, there’s also an another version of that guitar – Squier Affinity Jazzmaster HH. Unfortunately, this particular model is no longer manufactured by Squier, but you can still find it on the second-hand market.
I personally own that model and I have to admit that it’s one of my absolute favorites! It certainly looks, feels and sounds like a much more expensive guitar. If you manage to find it in a fairly good condition, you should definitely consider adding it to your own collection.
The HH version is equipped with a pair of humbuckers which offer a really nice guitar sound. This kind of tone is a bit more aggressive and punchy, so it’s perfect for indie, punk, grunge and metal. The only disadvantage of that model is that the HH version doesn’t have a tremolo bridge.
Still, I highly encourage you to check it out. I recorded a quick review of that guitar a few months ago, so if you’re interested you can check it out below.
Disadvantages Of Squier Affinity Jazzmaster
It’s really difficult to find any major disadvantages of Squier Affinity Jazzmaster. Although it’s not a high-end guitar, it’s really well made, so it’s really difficult to become disappointed with its quality.
Bear in mind that this model doesn’t have the P90 pickups. Some guitarists may consider it as a con, but in my opinion it doesn’t really matter that much. The pickups used in that model offer a really nice tone anyway!
Of course, there are always things that could be improved. In this case, putting a new set of strings and adjusting the string action will make this guitar sound and feel even better. It’s not necessary though, so in the end it’s all up to you.
Overall, it’s a killer guitar. I think that this is one of the most underrated electric guitars that you can potentially find on the market right now. Not many people are aware of how good it actually is!
Are There Any Alternatives?
If you don’t like the look or the sound of Squier Affinity Jazzmaster, that’s fine too! Perhaps Jazzmasters are not made for you. There’s still a lot of other really good guitars out there, but of course, it all depends on your personal preferences and most importantly, your budget.
Here’s a few other cool and affordable electric guitars that you can also check out.

Firstly, I highly encourage you to check out the Squier Affinity Stratocaster. This is a really similar guitar to the one reviewed in today’s article, but it has a different body shape and it has three single-coil pickups. In my opinion, this Strat can easily compete with some of the Fender Stratocasters, so I totally recommend checking it out.
Alternatively, you can also check out the Squier Affinity Starcaster. This is a bit different model, because it’s a semi-hollow body guitar. Guitars of this type offer a very nice and balanced tone that can be efficiently used in jazz, blues and rock music. The Starcaster has an offset body shape just like the Jazzmaster, so if you like that kind of vibe, you should definitely check it out.
If you’re searching for a guitar from a higher shelf, you can also consider getting the Fender Player Jazzmaster. This model is loved by both beginners and more advanced working musicians, so whether you just want to practice or play gigs, this guitar will be perfect for you.
Still, I’m positive that Squier Affinity Jazzmaster has absolutely everything that you need from an electric guitar at this price level. Honestly, it won’t be easy to find a better cheap guitar. That’s why I highly recommend checking it out!
