If you’re thinking about getting the Harley Benton Beatbass and you’re not sure if it’s worth it or not, don’t worry – you’ve come to the right place! In today’s in-depth review, I’m going to take a very close look on that affordable model. It’s a really popular budget bass, but is it actually better than Hofner Violin bass?
The truth is that Harley Benton Beatbass offers a really good quality. It’s cheap and it sounds surprisingly good – and that’s why it’s definitely worth the money! It’s a great alternative for those who can’t afford getting a Hofner bass.
Let’s dive deeper with research to find out what exactly makes the Harley Benton Beatbass VS so good and so popular all around the world. Firstly, we’ll start with a quick overview of the specifications of that model. Additionally, we’ll investigate the biggest pros and cons of that model. Of course, there will be a sound demo included as well.
Specs & Pricing
Harley Benton Beatbass VS Vintage Series is a budget copy of the legendary Hofner Violin Bass. It’s a way more affordable guitar, so it’s totally understandable that a lot of bassists decide to choose it instead of Hofner.
What makes it so cool? Well, the Beatbass features an arched basswood body with a flamed maple top. There’s also a really comfortable C-shaped maple neck with an easy-playing Amaranth fretboard. This is a big advantage of that model – the neck feels smooth and it’s really easy to play.
The manufacturer equipped this model with a pair of humbuckers which offer a really nice and versatile tone. Whether you’re into pop, blues, rock or country, the sound of that bass will be a pleasant surprise.
It is also worth mentioning that although it’s a cheap guitar, it doesn’t feel or look cheap at all. The overall quality of that model is really good and although it’s not perfect, it exceeds all the expectations.
Undoubtedly, Harley Benton Beatbass is a fantastic alternative for those who are looking for the cheapest violin bass out there. I highly recommend checking it out, because there’s a really high chance that you’re going to love it.
Here’s the sound demo.
Who Is It For?
Harley Benton Beatbass is suitable for bassists of all levels. It doesn’t really matter whether you’re a complete amateur or a bit more advanced musician – you will definitely notice the great quality of that bass.
However, since it’s a pretty cheap model, it works particularly good for everyone who’s looking for their first bass.
It is also worth mentioning that just like the original Hofner Violin Bass, the Beatbass by Harley Benton is very versatile too. That being said, it can be used in a lot of different styles of music. Additionally, it’s not only good for home practice, but also for live performances and studio sessions.
Also, this is a fantastic bass guitar for everyone who’s looking for an inexpensive 4-string bass guitar. Getting a high-end Hofner can be really challenging, especially if you’re on a tight budget. That’s why getting the Beatbass is a great idea!
Overall, I’m positive that the vast majority of guitar players will really enjoy playing on that bass. Considering how affordable it is, it’s definitely worth the money. It may not be the best bass in the world, but it’s still a fantastic axe.
Here’s an another demo.
Pros & Cons
Just like any other budget bass guitar, Harley Benton Beatbass VS has its own advantages and disadvantages. That’s totally normal! Still, it seems pretty clear that this particular model has far more pros rather than cons.
There are a lot of things that can be considered as major advantages of that model. It looks, sounds and feels like a much more expensive guitar. On top of that, it’s crazy cheap! How can you even argue with that?
On the other hand, the Beatbass usually comes without an included gig bag. This is not a huge issue, but it would save you a lot of time. Finding the right case for a short-scale bass isn’t that easy after all.
Additionally, some bassists complain about the neck dive of that model. Again, it’s not a huge issue and it can be easily resolved by using a high quality strap.
I’m still positive that the advantages of the Beatbass outweigh its disadvantages. When you think about that low price, all of these flaws become irrelevant. That’s why I’m in love with that bass guitar!
Harley Benton Beatbass vs Hofner Ignition Violin Bass
A lot of guitarists wonder whether the Beatbass is better than the cheapest bass of this type that is currently made by Hofner – Hofner Ignition Violin Bass.
The truth is that it’s really difficult to clearly answer which one of these guitars is better – both are on the similar level.
In my opinion, if your budget is really tight, you should definitely stick to the Harley Benton model. It’s a bit more affordable than Hofner Ignition bass.
But on the other hand, the Ignition model has the Hofner logo on the headstock and it’s not a budget copy. It sounds fantastic as well, but sometimes it has issues with the original setup. There’s a high chance that it won’t be amazing straight after unboxing and it may require some adjustments.
Nevertheless, I’m sure that no matter which one of them you decide to choose for yourself, you won’t be disappointed. Both of these guitars are definitely worth the money!
