Pros & Cons of G5622T

Just like any other guitar available on the market, Gretsch G5622T has its own advantages and disadvantages. Don’t worry though – it seems very clear that in this case there are far more pros than cons!

Pros

  • Amazing Tone
  • Comfortable Neck
  • Plays Like A Dream
  • Lots Of Colors Available
  • Bigsby
  • Beautiful Finish

Cons

  • Made In China
  • No Gig Bag Included

As you can see, there are a lot of things that can be classified as huge advantages of that guitar. It’s really well made, so it’s very unlikely that you’ll experience any factory flaws, even though it’s made in China. The guitars from China are pretty awesome these days!

When it comes to disadvantages, the G5622T usually comes without a hard case or any other gig bag.

This is not a big problem, but it would nice to have it included. Since finding a high quality case for a semi-hollow body guitar isn’t that easy, it would save you a lot of time!

Additionally, although it’s a pretty expensive guitar, it’s still Made in China. This doesn’t exactly mean that it’s worse, but in general the best Gretsch guitars are usually made either in Korea or in the United States.

Nevertheless, I’m positive that the advantages of that axe outweigh its disadvantages. When you think of how good it actually is, it’s pretty clear that this guitar is worth every cent. That’s for sure!

My Experience With Gretsch Guitars

I have to admit that I’m a huge fan of Gretsch guitars. I’ve had quite a lot of their guitars in my hands throughout the years and they were always really impressive. I’ve played on hollow, semi-hollow and acoustic models, so I feel like I’m in a good spot to share my thoughts with you.

For me, the most important part of the guitar is the neck. You can build your dream guitar and put the best pickups into it, but if the neck doesn’t feel right, it’s going to be a waste of time.

Out of my experience, the necks of Gretsch guitars ALWAYS feel really good. Perhaps it’s just my luck, but I’ve never seen any Gretsch axe that felt weird or uncomfortable.

That being said, considering the fact that the G5622T has a fantastic neck with the Thin U profile, it’s well made and on top of that it’s equipped with a pair of fantastic Broadtron pickups, it’s pretty obvious that it’s a killer guitar.

I have no hesitation in recommending this semi-hollow body guitar to any guitar player who’s searching for a great sounding, reliable, versatile and affordable guitar of this type. The chances are that you won’t find anything better at this price level. That’s for sure!

Cheaper Alternatives

If you don’t like the sound of Gretsch G5622T Electromatic or you simply can’t afford it right now, that’s not a huge problem! There’s still quite a lot of other fantastic semi-hollow body guitars that also deserve a lot of attention.

Of course, your decision should be based on your own personal preferences and most importantly, the size of your budget. Here’s a few other semi-hollow body guitars that I highly recommend checking out.

Firstly, I highly encourage you to check out Ibanez AS53. This is one of the cheapest semi-hollow body guitars manufactured by this brand and although it’s cheap, it offers a fantastic quality. I personally have that model and I can confirm that it’s ready to rock straight after unboxing. It’s not too expensive, so I’m sure that a lot of you will love it.

Alternatively, you can also consider getting the Epiphone ES-339. It may not be as good as the legendary Gibson ES-339, but it gets the job done. Surely, it’s one of the coolest semi-hollow body guitars manufactured by Epiphone! In comparison with Gretsch G5622T Electromatic, it doesn’t have the Bigsby tailpiece. However, it’s still a fantastic guitar nonetheless.

If you’re searching for a guitar from a bit lower shelf which is not too expensive, perhaps choosing the Gretsch G2655 Streamliner will be the best option for you. It may not be as good as the G5622T, but it still a fantastic guitar. The lack of the Bigsby tailpiece may be a problem, but considering that it’s quite cheap, it doesn’t matter that much anyway.
