Specs & Pricing

Fender Vintera ’60s Jazzmaster

One of the most unique offset guitars made by Fender. Awesome tone, comfortable neck and a matching headstock – what’s there not to like?

Fender Vintera ’60s Jazzmaster is a high quality offset electric guitar that exceeds all the expectations. This model has everything that you need from a guitar of this type – a stunning look, a great tone and an affordable price.

What makes it so cool? Well, the guitar features an alder body, a comfortable Mid-’60s C-shaped neck and an easy-playing Pau Ferro fretboard. It’s a pretty thick neck, but at the same time it’s very comfortable, so it allows you to practice for several hours without getting tired.

Fender decided to equip that model with a pair of vintage-style ’60s Jazzmaster single-coil pickups, which give you access to a lot of fantastic tones. Of course, it sounds like a classic Jazzmaster, so you can expect the glassy highs and a lot of sonic versatility.

It is also worth mentioning that the Vintera ’60s Jazzmaster is available in two color versions: Ice Blue Metallic and Olympic White. Both of them look equally cool! Undoubtedly, there’s something really special about these matching headstocks.

When it comes to pricing, it’s not exactly a cheap guitar and it’s a bit more expensive than Jazzmasters from the Player Series. However, it’s still more affordable than American-made Jazzmasters! That being said, it’s definitely worth the money.

Here’s my video review of that axe – feel free to check it out below! You can also check out the other reviews on my channel 🙂

Who Is It For?

Fender Vintera ’60s Jazzmaster is suitable for all level guitar players. It doesn’t really matter whether you’re a complete beginner or a more advanced musician – you will definitely appreciate the high quality of that cool offset model.

However, it’s a particularly good choice for any guitarist who’s searching for a good and reliable guitar suitable for live gigs and studio sessions.

It’s a great instrument to tour with! Since it’s much more affordable than American-made Fenders, you’ll worry less about it getting damaged.

At the same time, it’s also a perfect guitar for all amateurs who just want to practice at home. Of course, it’s not the cheapest guitar for beginners out there, but it will definitely push you to practice more and become a much better player.

Just like any other Jazzmaster made by Fender, it’s a really versatile instrument. Whether you’re into blues, country, rock, grunge or jazz – you can be sure that the tone of that Jazzmaster won’t disappoint you.

Overall, I’m positive that the vast majority of guitar players will really enjoy playing on that model.

Here’s an another sound demo.

Pros & Cons of Vintera 60s Jazzmaster

Just like any other Fender Jazzmaster, this particular model has its own advantages and disadvantages. Don’t worry though – there are far more pros than cons in this case! And what’s more, the disadvantages aren’t that relevant anyway.

Pros
  • Vintage Vibe
  • Beautiful Finish
  • Great Tone
  • High Versatility
  • Comfortable Neck
Cons
  • No Gig Bag Included
  • It’s Not Ideal For Shredding (Thick Neck)

As you can see, there are a lot of things that can be considered as the advantages of that Jazzmaster. It certainly looks, feels and sounds beautiful. On top of that, it’s really versatile and comfortable for most of the players.

On the other hand, it usually comes without a gig bag, so you’ll have to get it separately. Due to the offset body shape, it’s not that easy to find a good case for a Jazzmaster, so it can be really annoying. It would be awesome if Fender would include a gig bag along with the guitar!

Additionally, bear in mind that this guitar has a pretty thick neck, so it’s not ideal for extremely fast playing. Personally, I think that the neck of that model is actually a big advantage. However, it feels different than any other guitar for rock and metal (for example any Superstrat).

Fender Vintera ’60s Jazzmaster

One of the most unique offset guitars made by Fender. Awesome tone, comfortable neck and a matching headstock – what’s there not to like?

Undoubtedly, the advantages of that Jazzmaster outweigh its disadvantages. It’s not a perfect axe, but it’s definitely worth every cent. Especially if you love vintage gear!

Fender Vintera 60s Jazzmaster Modified

Vintera Modified JM

Slightly different version. Perfect for everyone who’s looking for a bit more punch. Check out full specs and prices below!

Fender Vintera 60s Modified Jazzmaster is an another excellent option for the most demanding guitarists out there. This particular model is a bit more expensive than the original version.

What makes it different from the first model? Well, it has a modern C-shaped maple neck, which feels a bit differently than the Mid-60s neck used in the previous Jazzmaster. The Modified version has a 9.5″ radius, while the regular version has the 7.25″ radius.

But overall, both of these guitars sound really similar, so it’s just a matter of preference. I’m sure that no matter which model you decide to chose, you won’t be disappointed!

Here’s a quick demo of the modified version.

Vintera Jazzmaster vs Squier CV Jazzmaster

A lot of guitarists who are searching for the most affordable Jazzmasters available on the market often decide to choose the affordable Squier Classic Vibe Jazzmaster. It’s a very popular option, but is it better than the Vintera Jazzmaster?

Here’s the answer: it seems pretty clear that Fender Vintera ’60s Jazzmaster is better than Squier Classic Vibe Jazzmaster.

However, it doesn’t mean that the quality of the Squier is bad. In fact, it’s probably one of the best offset guitars from the highest shelf. But if you’re looking for something a bit better, you should stick to the Vintera model.

Here’s a great video that compares both of these Jazzmasters – feel free to check it out below.

Other Alternatives

If you don’t like the sound of Fender Vintera 60s Jazzmaster or you simply can’t afford it right now, that’s not a big deal! There’s still quite a lot of other fantastic guitars made by Fender and Squier that are also worth checking out.

Of course, it all depends on your own preferences and the size of your budget, but here’s a few more gear recommendations based on my own experience.

Firstly, if you’re searching for the most affordable option out there, make sure to check out the Squier Affinity Jazzmaster. I personally own that model and I can confirm that it offers an absolutely fantastic value for the money. There’s a few different versions of that model – I have the one with two humbuckers, which is no longer manufactured. If you find it on the second-hand market, go for it!

alternative options

Alternatively, you can also check out the Fender Player Jazzmaster. This is the most affordable Mexican-made offset guitar by this brand. It’s well known all around the world and to be honest, you can never go wrong with it. It’s an industry’s standard and it used by both amateur and more advanced musicians. What’s important, it’s a bit cheaper than the Vintera Jazzmaster.

Lastly, take some time to check out the Squier Contemporary Active Jazzmaster HH. This is a really special model, because it’s a bit different than any other offset guitar made by Fender and Squier. It features a pair of really powerful humbuckers which are perfect for rock and metal music! On top of that, it’s quite affordable.
