Fender Redondo Player Review

If you’re wondering if Fender Redondo Player is a good acoustic guitar or not, don’t worry – you’ve come to the right part of the internet! In today’s review, we’re going to take a very close look on that interesting guitar. Surely, it’s a really popular model, but is it actually good?

The truth is that Fender Redondo Player is one of the best and most affordable mid-level acoustic guitars offered by Fender. It looks and sounds absolutely fantastic, so it should be a great choice for all-level players.

Let’s dive deeper with research to find out what exactly makes this guitar so special. Firstly, we’ll have a look on the specs of that model. Of course, you will also be able to hear how it sounds! We will also investigate if there are any other alternatives for guitarists who have a bit lower budget.

Hopefully, today’s guide will help you to understand whether Fender Redondo Player is a guitar for you or not.

Specs & Pricing

Fender Redondo Player is an acoustic-electric guitar which is heavily inspired by the acoustic guitars manufactured by Fender back in the ’60s. The guitar has a solid spruce top with mahogany back and sides and as a result, it sounds very rich and resonant.

There’s also a very comfortable C-shaped maple neck, which feels absolutely amazing. It has a satin finish, so it’s not too sticky. There’s also a walnut fingerboard, which also makes playing very comfortable and enjoyable.

What’s important, the manufacturer equipped this model with a high quality Fishman preamp, which allows you to easily plug in that guitar into an amp. It gives you a complete control over the tone and volume of the guitar when you’re performing on stage. In addition, there’s also a built-in tuner. This is extremely useful, especially if you’re frequently gigging!

Additionally, the Redondo Player is available in a few different color versions. Apart from the Jetty Black model with the matching headstock visible on the picture above, other colors include: Sunburst, Natural, Slate Satin, Bronze Satin and Belmont Blue.

When it comes to pricing, it’s not the cheapest acoustic-electric guitar in the world, although it certainly deserves a lot of attention. In comparison with other models at the same price level, Fender Redondo Player seems to stand out from the competition. That being said, this guitar is definitely worth the money and it’s not overpriced.

Who Is It For?

Fender Redondo Player is an excellent choice for both amateur and more advanced players who are looking for a high quality and reliable guitar. This guitar looks awesome, sounds fantastic and it’s not overly expensive – who needs anything else?

Since it’s an acoustic-electric guitar, it will be a particularly great model for all guitarists who like performing in front of an audience. As I mentioned earlier, Fender equipped this model with a really good preamp that makes the guitar sound very natural. Undoubtedly, if you’re a singer-songwriter, you’ll definitely love that acoustic guitar!

In addition, the Redondo Player offers a lot of versatility when it comes to tone. It can be efficiently used for a lot of different styles of playing, so whether you’re intro country, blues, rock or indie – you won’t be disappointed!

What’s more, there’s also a left-handed version available. This is a big advantage, so if you’re searching specifically for that type of an acoustic-electric guitar, the Fender Redondo Player will be an excellent choice.

Overall, I have no hesitation in recommending this guitar to any guitarist who’s looking for a great acoustic-electric guitar. The market is full of interesting guitars made by various brands, but the truth is that the look and spirit of the Fender Redondo Player is one-of-a-kind.

Disadvantages Of Fender Redondo Player

The truth is that it is really difficult to find any major disadvantages of Fender Redondo Player, but of course – it doesn’t mean that this guitar is ideal.

Firstly, this guitar usually comes without a gig bag or hard case, so you’ll have to get it separately. The shape of the Redondo Player is pretty unusual, so finding a good and reliable case for that model may be challenging. It is not impossible to find it, but bear in mind that not every case will be suitable for that model.

Additionally, these guitars are known for their slim necks that feel similarly as necks of electric guitars. Although it’s a comfortable feel, not every guitar player likes that on an acoustic guitar. Still, it all comes down to your own preferences. There’s still a high chance that you’re going to love it!

Lastly, some of these guitars may need a setup after the purchase. This is not a common flaw, but it happens from time to time. Adjusting the string action will definitely make your guitar more comfortable and more playable.

Still, the overall quality of Fender Redondo Player is very good and it’s not that easy to find any huge disadvantages of that guitar. That being said, you shouldn’t be worried about the flaws of that guitar, because Fender did an absolutely fantastic job with that model!

Are There Any Alternatives?

If you don’t like the look or sound of Fender Redondo Player, don’t worry – there’s a few other great guitars out there too!

Firstly, I highly recommend checking out the Fender Newporter Player. This guitar comes from the same California Series by Fender, but it’s a slightly different model. I’m sure that both beginner and more advanced players are going to love it.

Additionally, you should also check out the Epiphone DR-100. This is not an acoustic-electric guitar, but it’s still a great choice for beginners. I bought this guitar back in 2008 when I started playing the guitar and I have to admit that I have a lot of great memories with that guitar. And what’s important, it’s really cheap!

If you don’t like the Newporter or DR-100 models, you can also check out my article about 10 best Takamine guitars under $1000. This legendary brand manufactures some of the best acoustic guitars in the world, so I’m sure that you’ll be able to find your dream guitar somewhere on that list. Still, these guitars aren’t that cheap.

Nevertheless, I have a strong feeling that Fender Redondo Player will be appealing to the vast majority of guitarists all around the world. If you can’t afford it yet, I highly recommend saving up a bit more to eventually get it instead of buying a cheaper alternative guitar.

In the end, the Redondo Player is one-of-a-kind. It’s really tough to compete with that model, especially at this price level!
