Disadvantages Of Fender Player Telecaster HH

It’s really tough to find any major flaws of Fender Player Telecaster HH – it’s just a really good and well made guitar. Nevertheless, there’s still a few things that differentiate it from the most expensive American-made Telecasters.

Here’s what you need to know about the potential flaws of that guitar.

Firstly, in some cases the guitars from the Player Series tend to have a problem with the original string action. It’s not a massive issue and you can easily sort it out on your own, although bear in mind that it’s possible that you’ll have to spend a moment and set it up in order to make it more comfortable to play.

Additionally, this Telecaster usually comes without a gig bag, so you’ll have to get it separately. If you don’t know which case you should bay, check out my article about 8 Best Gig Bags For Telecasters.

Lastly, Fender doesn’t manufacture the left-handed version of that guitar. This is a massive con for all the lefties out there! If you’re not a right-handed player, the only thing that you can do is to get a regular Player Tele with single-coils and then replace the pickups with a set of humbuckers.

Summing up, the main cons of that guitar are:

  • in rare cases the original setup is not the best
  • the case is not included
  • there’s no left-handed version of that guitar

But overall, the advantages of Fender Player Telecaster HH outweigh the disadvantages of that guitar. It’s a really good piece of gear and although it’s not a high-end guitar, it’s definitely worth the money.

My Verdict

Would I add this guitar to my own collection? Yes, absolutely! Fender Player Telecaster HH is a truly amazing guitar. I always loved playing on Telecasters and although I like the classic Tele twang, having a bit of more power thanks to two humbuckers is really appealing.

In my opinion, this Telecaster exceeds all the expectations. I particularly recommend this guitar to more advanced guitarists who are searching for a reliable and great sounding piece of gear suitable for recording and live performances. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.

Are There Any Alternatives?

If you don’t like the look or the sound of Fender Player Telecaster HH or you simply can’t afford it yet, don’t worry! There’s still quite a lot of other great electric guitars out there. Of course, it all depends on what kind of music you want to play and how much are you willing to spend.

Here’s a few other great guitars that definitely deserve a lot of attention.

other electric guitars

Firstly, I highly encourage you to check out the Squier Classic Vibe Telecaster. It doesn’t have the legendary Fender logo on the headstock, but it’s still a great electric guitar. Many guitarists say that it’s one the same level as this Mexican-made Tele. Although it doesn’t have two humbuckers like the Player Tele, it’s definitely wort checking out.

Additionally, if you’re on a really tight budget, you can also check out the Squier Bullet Telecaster. This is a cheap entry-level guitar, so you can’t expect it to be the best guitar in the world, but it will work perfectly well for all the amateur guitarists out there. I had the pleasure to test it out and I was really surprised of how good it actually was.

If you don’t necessarily need a Telecaster, you can also check out the Fender Player Jazzmaster. This is one of my favorite guitars in the world and I can totally confirm that it offers an awesome quality. If you’re into offset guitars, you should definitely check it out.

But overall, Fender Player Telecaster HH is a fantastic electric guitar. If you have the budget for it, you probably don’t need to search for anything else. Well done, Fender!
