If you’re wondering if the brand new Fender Player Plus Meteora HH is a good guitar or not, don’t worry – you’ve come to the right place! In today’s article, we’re going to take a very close look on that model. Surely, it looks very interesting, but is it actually worth it?
The truth is that the Player Plus Meteora HH offers an amazing quality. It’s definitely one of the best and most powerful new offset guitars available on the market right now.
Let’s dive deeper with research to find out what exactly makes this guitar so special. Firstly, we’ll start with the specs and we’ll see if this guitar has any disadvantages. Of course, there will also be a few sound demos, so you’ll be able to hear how it sounds. Hopefully, this article will help you to understand if this guitar is a right fit for you.
Specs & Pricing
The Meteora model was originally introduced four years ago in 2018 as a part of the Fender’s Parallel Universe Series. The popularity of this guitar was growing every year, so Fender decided to create a brand new model – the Player Plus Meteora HH.
This futuristic offset guitar features an alder body and a very comfortable maple neck. The unusual shape of the body may remind you of a classic Jazzmaster, but it’s way different and more modern.
Fender decided to equip this guitar with two high-quality Fireball humbuckers. And to be honest, it was an excellent choice. These pickups are really powerful and versatile, so they definitely match with the aggressive and modern vibe of this model. And if you don’t like the punch, the Meteora also offers the Fender-style single-coil cleans.
It is also worth mentioning that the feel of that guitar is great as well. Whether you choose the version with the Pau Ferro or maple fingerboard, you’ll definitely enjoy the smoothness of that neck.
What’s important, the Player Plus Meteora is available in a few amazing color versions: 3-Tone Sunburst, Silverburst, Belair Blue and Cosmic Jade. Most of these finishes aren’t available in other Fender guitars, so that makes them even cooler.
When it comes to pricing, it’s not a cheap guitar, but at the same time it’s not as expensive as some of the most famous American-made offset guitars. Considering how unique this guitar is, it is safe to say that it’s neither overpriced or underpriced.

Who Is It For?
Fender Player Plus Meteora HH will be an excellent guitar for both beginner and more advanced guitarists who are looking for something really special. This guitar is one-of-a-kind and it’s really tough to compare it with other Fender guitars. Who knows, maybe the Meteora is the new Jazzmaster and it’s going to stay with us for a while!
Since it’s a very versatile guitar, it can be used in a lot of different styles of music. Whether you’re into blues, grunge, indie or metal, the Meteora won’t disappoint you. In addition, it’s well-balanced, so it works perfectly for playing on stage.
I have no hesitation in recommending the Fender Player Plus Meteora HH to any guitarist who’s looking for a high quality guitar suitable for live gigs and studio sessions.
My Thoughts On Fender Player Plus Meteora
I’m very excited that Fender experiments with new guitars and they’re not limiting themselves to the same old Strats, Teles and Jazzmasters. Personally, I have a strong feeling that the Meteora is going to become a truly iconic model.
The look and sound of that guitar is awesome, so I’m sure that it will be more than enough even for the most demanding guitarists. There’s something really cool about the shape of that guitar – it’s kind of like a futuristic mix of the Fender Jazzmaster and the Gibson Firebird.
Although it’s not a cheap guitar, it’s definitely one of the most interesting guitars created by Fender in the last few years. You may disagree with me, but in my opinion we’ll see a lot more Meteora guitars in the coming years. Hopefully I’m right!

Disadvantages of Fender Player Plus Meteora
The main disadvantage of Fender Player Plus Meteora is the price – it’s not a cheap guitar, so not everyone will be able to get it straight away. Nevertheless, if this model caught your attention, it’s definitely worth it to spend some time to save up some money specifically on that guitar.
It is also worth mentioning that due to the offset shape of this guitar, it may be difficult to find a suitable hard case for that model. Fender sells the Meteora with a gig bag, but in the end, it’s just a gig bag – it’s not as durable as a high quality hard case. So if you decide to get the Player Plus Meteora, be careful with the cases, because not all of them will fit.
Lastly, the Meteora will steal a lot of your time. It’s an awesome instrument, so it will be tough to do something else rather than sitting with that axe in your hands. Undoubtedly, it will significantly impact your overall productivity!
Are There Any Alternatives?
If you don’t like the sound or look of Fender Player Plus Meteora HH, don’t worry – there’s a lot of cool alternatives out there too! Still, it all depends on what you’re looking for.
Guitarists who are searching for a great offset guitar with two humbuckers should definitely check out the Squier Affinity Jazzmaster HH. I personally own that guitar and I have to admit that it’s a really good instrument. It’s way more affordable than the Meteora and although it’s not as cool and futuristic, it still does the job very well.
In addition, I highly recommend checking out the Squier Classic Vibe Jazzmaster. It’s a bit more expensive than the Affinity model, but it’s still way more affordable than the Player Plus Meteora. The CV Jazzmaster features a very high quality and it’s comparable with some of the Mexican-made offset Fenders.
Lastly, I also encourage you to check out my article about the Gibson Firebird Alternatives. There’s quite a few interesting offset guitars suitable for all-level players, so I’m sure that you’ll be able to find a model that matches your own personal needs and preferences.
