Of curse, there will be a few sound demos included too!

Specs & Pricing

Fender Mustang GTX 50 is a high quality modeling combo designed for the most demanding guitarists out there. This is one of the newest additions to the Mustang line manufactured by Fender and to be honest, it exceeds all the expectations.

What makes it so cool? Well, the amp features 50 Watts of power, a 12″ Celestion Seventy 80 speaker, a 3-band EQ, 40 amp voicings and 200 presets. As you can imagine, this means that the GTX 50 is extremely versatile! You’ll be amazed of the amount of tones that you can achieve with that thing.

What’s important, this amplifier also features the USB and Bluetooth connectivity. Hence, you can easily pair this amp with your smartphone! This is pretty cool, because it allows you to adjust the tone of the amp through the Fender Play mobile app.

The sound quality of this amp is really good and it’s actually pretty close to the sound of a classic tube combo. Whether you’re searching for an amp for home practice, rehearsals or small gigs in the coffee shops, this amp won’t let you down.

When it comes to pricing, it’s not the cheapest modeling amp made by Fender, but it can still be classified as affordable. Although it’s more expensive than Fender Mustang LT50, it’s definitely worth every cent anyway!

Here’s the sound demo – feel free to check it out below.

Who Is It For?

Fender Mustang GTX 50 is suitable for guitarists of all levels. It doesn’t really matter whether you’re an absolute beginner or a bit more experienced player – you will definitely notice and appreciate the versatility of that combo.

This is a perfect amplifier for anyone who’s searching for an affordable and great sounding modeling amp for home use.

Since this combo is packed with various different amp voicings and presets, it’s also ideal for any beginner who doesn’t know too much about guitar effects yet. Surely, getting this combo will be a better idea than building a complete pedalboard from scratch.

Additionally, the Mustang GTX 50 can be used for playing music of all genres. Whether you’re into jazz, blues, grunge, rock, indie or funk – you can be sure that this amp will give you the access to the tone that you need.

It is also worth mentioning that that the Mustang GTX 50 is not overly expensive, so it’s perfect for guitarists who don’t want to pay too much for new gear.

Overall, I’m positive that the vast majority of guitarists will really enjoy playing and jamming with that amp in their bedroom. Considering how versatile it is, it’s really difficult to complain about it. Well done, Fender!

Here’s an another sound demo.

Pros & Cons

Just like any other guitar amplifier available on the market, Fender Mustang GTX 50 has its own advantages and disadvantages. However, it seems pretty clear that there are far more pros than cons in this case!

  • Great Tone
  • High Versatility
  • Affordable Price
  • 40 Amp Voicings
  • 200 Presets
  • Onboard Effects
  • Bluetooth Connectivity

  • More Expensive Than Mustang LT Amps
  • Connectivity Issues with the Fender Tone App
  • No Footswitch Included

As you can see, there are a lot of things that can be considered as the advantages of the Mustang GTX 50. It’s extremely versatile, it sounds good and it’s not overly expensive. Who needs anything else?

On the other hand, considering the fact that Fender Mustang LT50 is a bit cheaper, some guitarists may consider it as a better option. Additionally, some players report having issues with the Fender Tone App which is really annoying when you want to use it along with the app. However, it’s not the fault of the amp – it’s the app.

But overall, I’m positive that the advantages of GTX 50 outweigh its disadvantages. This is a fantastic piece of gear which is definitely worth the money anyway! Even though it’s not flawless.

Fender Mustang GTX 50 vs GTX 100

For those who are not aware, Fender manufactures an another version of the GTX combo – the Fender Mustang GTX 100. Both of these amps are great, but there’s a few things that differentiate them.

It is difficult to clearly determine which one of the Mustang GTX amps is better, because it all depends on your own personal preferences.

The GTX 100 is a bit more powerful, it has a better sounding speaker and it comes with an included footswitch.

However, both of these amps give you access to the same amount of presets, so you’ll have to figure out whether you want some extra power or not. Additionally, the GTX is larger and a bit heavy, so it also depends if you have space for it in your room or not.

But as I mentioned before, both of these amps are perfect for beginners and more intermediate players. No matter which one you decide to choose, I’m sure that you’ll be really satisfied with your choice!

If you want to learn more about differences between these amps, here’s a really good video about it.

Fender Mustang GTX vs LT Series

As you’re probably aware, Fender manufactures two series of great modeling amps: Fender Mustang GTX and Fender Mustang LT. But which one of them are actually better?

The truth is that Fender Mustang GTX (both 50 and 100) offer a bit better and more versatile tone than any Mustang LT combo. However, they’re a bit more expensive too.

So as you can see, it’s really difficult to pick a clear winner of that battle. If you’re on a tight budget, you should stick to the Mustang LT amps – they are more than enough for home practice.

But if you’re searching for a bit better sound quality and even more versatility when it comes to tone, choosing any of the Mustang GTX will be a much better choice for you!

Here’s an another excellent video about both of the GTX and LT Mustang amps.

Are There Any Alternatives?

If you don’t like the sound of Mustang GTX 50 or you have a feeling that it won’t be a good fit for you, that’s not a big problem! There’s still quite a lot of other great amps that also deserve a lot of attention.

Of course, it all depends on your own personal preferences and most importantly, the size of your budget. Here’s a few more great amps that are also worth checking out.

other amps

Firstly, you should definitely consider getting the Fender Champion 20. This is a really cool combo which is way cheaper than the Mustang GTX 50. It may not be as versatile as the amp mentioned in today’s list, but it’s still a perfect option for home practice and for beginners. I personally own that combo and I can totally admit that it’s worth the money!

Alternatively, you can also check out the VOX Valvetronix VT20X. This is an another excellent and great sounding combo suitable for the most demanding players out there. Just like the GTX 50, it’s equipped with various interesting amp voicings and presets. Undoubtedly, it’s a great alternative option for those who don’t want to get the Mustang combo.

If you’re searching for the cheapest combo for home practice, make sure to check out the Marshall MG10. This is a really simple, but also very efficient small amp. It’s not amazing, but it does the job and it’s actually really affordable. In fact, this is one of the cheapest amps manufactured by Marshall! I’m sure that some of you will really enjoy playing with that classic Marshall tone.
