Let’s dive deeper with research to find out what exactly makes this Ultra Telecaster so good and so popular among the intermediate players. Firstly, we’ll have a look at the detailed specifications of that model. Additionally, we’ll investigate the major pros and cons of that Tele. Hopefully, this review will help you figure out if this guitar is a good fit for you!
Overview – Specs & Pricing
Fender American Ultra Telecaster is a top quality electric guitar built for high performance. It’s not just a regular Tele – it’s a modern, killer axe that exceeds all the expectations.
What makes it so special? Well, the guitar features a solid alder body, a comfortable maple neck (Modern D Profile) and smooth rosewood fingerboard with rolled edges which guarantees an enjoyable playing experience. What’s important, there’s also an another version of that Tele with the maple fretboard instead.
The manufacturer equipped this model with two amazing Ultra Noiseless Vintage Tele single-coils. These pickups are extremely versatile and they give you access to a wide range of tones from a classic Tele twang and punch up to crystal clear clean tones. And of course, there’s no hum!
It is also worth mentioning that the Ultra Telecaster looks fantastic from the outside too. There’s a few different colors available: Texas Tea, Mocha Burst, Cobra Blue, Arctic Pearl and Ultraburst. All of them look equally cool!
Overall, this is a truly exceptional electric guitar. It will be really tough to find a better and more versatile Telecaster made by Fender. That’s for sure!

Who Is It For?
Fender American Ultra Telecaster is designed for the most demanding guitarists out there. Although it’s suitable for all-level players, due to its high price it’s mainly recommended for intermediate and professional musicians.
This is a perfect instrument to gig and record with. If you’re a working musician and you’re looking for the best Tele for your studio, you can be sure that the quality of that Ultra model won’t disappoint you.
It is also worth mentioning that just like any other high-end Telecaster, this is a really versatile guitar. That being said, it doesn’t really matter whether you like to play blues, country, rock or punk music. The Ultra Tele can do it all!
Overall, the vast majority of guitar players will notice and admire the uniqueness of the Fender American Ultra Telecaster. Although Fender manufactures a lot of great Teles, this is definitely one of their best models. That’s for sure!

American Ultra Tele – Unboxing
Since it’s a high-quality American-made Fender guitar, it always comes with an excellent setup. You don’t have to worry about any factory flaws – it’s extremely unlikely that you’re going to experience any issues. These guitars are always carefully inspected!
Unboxing a new guitar can be a really enjoyable and exciting experience. If you’re wondering how it feels when you’re unpacking a brand new Ultra Telecaster, here’s a really good video that highlights it.
Maple Or Rosewood?
As I mentioned before, Fender American Ultra Telecaster is available in a few different versions. Guitarists can choose between models with either rosewood or maple fingerboards. But which one of them is actually better?
Well, the truth is that it’s pretty difficult to clearly answer which one of them is better. Both of them are equally great, but they feel a bit differently, so it’s all up to your and your own personal preferences.
Here’s a really good video that compares the Ultra Telecasters with maple and rosewood fretboards. You have to admit that both of these guitars sound truly exceptional!
American Ultra vs American Professional
A lot of guitarists also wonder whether they should choose the American Ultra Telecaster or a bit less expensive American Professional Tele. Again, it’s really difficult to clearly determine which one of them is better, because it’s all really subjective. Both of these Teles are absolutely amazing!
Although I’m a big fan of the Fender American Professional II Telecaster, I’d choose the American Ultra Telecaster. There’s just something really unique about that Texas Tea color! Also, I just love the Ultra Noiseless Vintage Tele Pickups.
However, it’s totally fine if you disagree with me on that matter! Here’s a great video that compares these Telecasters. I highly encourage you to check it out below!
So Is It Overrated?
In general, guitars from the highest shelf usually have a lot of admirers. Still, there are also a lot of people who claim that high-end guitars are overrated and overpriced.
I have to admit that that I understand both of these sides. I’m a huge fan of expensive guitars, but I’m also aware that cheaper guitars also offer a fantastic quality these days. Things have changed recently and it’s totally possible to find a killer budget axe.
However, I don’t think that the American Ultra Tele is overrated. I’m positive that most guitarists who decide to get it exactly know what they’re searching for. It’s an expensive instrument, but it’s worth it.
It’s also totally understandable that high-end guitars aren’t cheap. In the end, it’s the best and most valuable gear on the market!
Cheaper Alternatives
If you don’t like the sound of Fender American Ultra Tele or you simply can’t afford it right now, that’s not a problem! As you’re probably aware, there are a lot of other great Telecasters out there. Although they may not be as fantastic as the Ultra model, they still offer a great value for the money.
Of course, it all depends on your own personal preferences and most importantly, your budget. Here’s a few more gear recommendations based on my own experience.
Firstly, I highly encourage you to check out the Fender Player Telecaster HH. This Mexican-made Tele is perfect for everyone who loves rock and metal! It’s way more powerful than any other Tele made by Fender. The manufacturer equipped it with a pair of really good humbuckers which give you a lot of extra punch. Also, it’s not overly expensive!
Alternatively, you can also consider getting the Fender Special Edition Custom Telecaster. In my opinion, this is one of the most underrated Telecasters made by this legendary guitar brand. This is an another great guitar for anyone who loves the high-gain settings. If you love rock, grunge and metal – this model is made for you.
If you’re on a tight budget and you’re okay with not having the Fender logo on the headstock, check out the Squier Classic Vibe Telecaster. It’s a really good Indonesian-made Tele available at a relatively low price. It’s not the greatest guitar in the world, but it gets the job done and it’s available in a lot of different versions!
