Fender American Professional II Telecaster review

Fender American Professional II Telecaster is one of the best and most popular American-made Teles that are currently manufactured by Fender. This model is absolutely loved by a lot of professional musicians all around the world.

What makes it so cool? Well, the guitar features a solid alder body and a comfortable maple neck with the Deep C profile. This particular version (Dark Night) has a rosewood fretboard, although there’s a few other versions of that Tele that feature a maple fretboard instead.

What’s important, the American Professional II Telecaster is equipped with a pair of high quality pickups – V-Mod II Tele Single-coils. They were designed by Fender’s Pickup master Tim Shaw and they offer a modern clarity with vintage voice. That sound is absolutely amazing and it can be used in a lot of different genres of music.

Fender offers that Tele in a lot of different color versions, including: 3-Color Sunburst, Olympic White, Mystic Surf Green, Mercury, Dark Night, Black, Miami Blue, Sienna Sunburst, Butterscotch Blonde and Roasted Pine. Surely, anyone will be able to find their own favorite model!

When it comes to pricing, let’s be honest – it’s not a cheap guitar. Still, you have to be aware that guitars from the top shelf aren’t that affordable. And that’s a totally normal thing!

Who Is It For?

Fender American Professional II Telecaster is a great guitar for both amateur and more intermediate guitar players. Still, it’s most often used by experienced and professional musicians due to the fact that this is an expensive guitar.

The Telecasters are generally really versatile, so it doesn’t really matter what kind of music you want to play – this model will be a great choice. Whether you’re into blues, country, rock or metal, it will do the job. Of course, it’s a particularly good option for anyone who loves the classic Tele twang!

This is not a cheap guitar, so it’s mainly suitable for players who exactly know what they’re searching for. If you’re okay with spending a significant amount of money on a high-end guitar, there’s a big chance that you’re going to love that Telecaster.

Overall, it’s a fantastic guitar. I’m positive that the vast majority of guitar players will appreciate the high quality and uniqueness of the Fender American Professional II Telecaster. What a guitar!

Are There Any Disadvantages?

When it comes to disadvantages, it’s really difficult to find any major cons of that guitar. In the end, it’s a US-made model and it follows the highest standards. It’s really unlikely that you will experience any factory flaws of that guitar.

Nevertheless, some guitarists may consider the price of that Telecaster as the biggest disadvantage. That’s understandable – no one likes to pay too much for new gear. But considering how well made this Telecaster actually is, it’s definitely worth the money. In my opinion, it’s not overpriced at all.

Apart from the price, there’s not much to complain about. How can you complain about something that offers such a good quality?

Professional II, Ultra & Original – Which Fenders Are Best?

Many guitarists wonder which American-made Fender is the best. In the end, there are so many different guitars out there! It’s totally fine if you feel confused, but the truth is that it’s not that easy to pick a clear winner of that battle.

In my opinion, all US-made Fenders offer a fantastic quality. Based on my own experience, these guitars are always made with a thorough precision and they pretty much don’t have any factory flaws.

Hence, your decision should be based on your own personal preferences and most importantly, your budget. Of course, these guitars don’t sound the same because they have different specs, so it’s all up to your and what kind of vibe you like.

If you’re not sure whether you should choose the American Professional II, Ultra or Original Series, check out the video below. It explains the main differences between these series of guitars in a lot of detail.

Cheaper Alternatives

If you don’t like the sound of Fender American Professional II Telecaster or you simply can’t afford it right now, that’s totally fine too! There’s still quite a lot of other really good electric guitars that also deserve a lot of attention. Although they’re not as good as this Tele, they can be great alternatives.

Here’s a few more recommendations based on my own experience. Of course, it all depends on what you’re searching for and how much are you willing to spend.

Firstly, I highly encourage you to check out the Fender Vintera Telecaster. This is a fantastic option for those who can’t afford getting any of the American-made Fenders. The Vintera Tele is manufactured in Mexico and it features a really cool, vintage vibe. If you like the sound of ’60s and ’70s music, this guitar will be perfect for you.

Alternatively, you can also check out the Squier Classic Vibe Telecaster. Although it’s not a Fender guitar, it offers a great value for the money. It may not be as good as the American Professional II Tele, but it gets the job done and it’s actually pretty affordable. Surely, a lot of guitarists are going to immediately fall in love with it!

If your budget is really tight, you should also consider getting the Squier Bullet Telecaster. This is an entry-level guitar which offers a surprisingly good tone. It’s mainly designed for beginners, so if you’re searching for your first electric guitar, this is the way to go. But bear in mind that this model is not a piece of art and it has its own disadvantages!
