my own acoustasonic

If you’re wondering whether Fender Acoustasonic 40 is a good amp or not, you’ve come to the right place and the right review! I’ve been using this amplifier for a few years now, so I feel like I’m in a good spot to share my thoughts with you. Surely, it’s a really popular amp, but is it actually worth it?

Absolutely! This is a perfect amp for both beginners and more intermediate players. The amp has a really nice, balanced tone and it allows you to use two channels, so it’s great for all performers who play and sing at the same time. In addition, it has a built-in reverb and it’s not overly expensive.

Let’s dive deeper with research and find out what makes this amp so special. Although this model has its own pros and cons, it’s definitely one of the most interesting acoustic amplifiers available on the market.

My Experience With The Fender Acoustasonic 40

Why I decided to buy this amp? Well, a couple of years ago I was looking for an affordable amp that could be good for practicing at home and occasionally playing live in front of people. I stumbled upon that Acoustasonic model and I have to admit that I instantly decided to get it.

Although it’s designed mainly for acoustic guitars, it sounds completely fine with an electric guitar as well. Of course, there is no crunch or distortion, but if you just want to practice on the clean channel, it sounds pretty good. In addition, it can get very loud!

From the outside, the Acoustasonic 40 looks really solid. I have to say that I like the design of that amp – most amplifiers look the same, they’re black and boring. But this model stands out from the rest and it features a really cool, vintage vibe.

I recorded a quick video review for you to see – feel free to check it out below. If you think that it’s helpful, make sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel – there are a lot more reviews of amps, pedals and guitars.

As you can hear on the video, the amp sounds awesome – especially with a little bit of reverb. I’m really happy that I decided to get it for myself and I’m not planning to change it anytime soon.

Specs & Pricing
fender acoustasonic 40

This is a mid-sized 40-watt guitar amp, which features a six inch speaker and two channels. It’s not small, but it’s not that large either, so carrying it around won’t be an issue.

The tone of each channel can be adjusted with a couple of knobs, which are really easy to use. They include volume, EQ (bass, middle, treble) and reverb knobs.

Bear in mind that the older Acoustasonic’s used to have a built-in chorus effect, but today’s models don’t have that feature. This is a pretty relevant information for those who will get it on the second-hand market.

The amp is fairly small and it’s not that heavy – it weighs 17lbs (7.7kg). Since it’s easy to carry around, so it’s a great option for any musician who’s on the go.

When it comes to pricing, it’s actually really affordable. To be honest, now that I know how useful this amp is to me, I’d be willing spend even more for that amp. In my opinion, this acoustic combo provides a great value for the money and it’s worth every cent.

Who will benefit from getting it?

The Acoustasonic 40 is a great choice for all-level musicians who are looking for a reliable, powerful and compact amp. Since this amp is really versatile, it can be used for both practice and live performances.

Of course, it works well in a lot of different genres. Whether you’re into folk, country or blues, this amp will make you and your guitar sing. In addition, the Acoustasonic can get very loud, so it’s also a good choice for singer-songwriters who want to perform in either intimate or more crowded settings.

I think that I’m a good example of a person who uses the potential of this amp to the highest degree – I use this amp to practice at home and to play smaller gigs in pubs and restaurants in my local area. So if your needs are similar, trust me – you’re going to love it!

What about the disadvantages?

I thought about the disadvantages of this amp for a while and I have to admit that I can’t think of any major flaw. I’ve been using it regularly for a few years now, so it’s definitely durable and it doesn’t break easily.

Sometimes I experienced some issues with the feedback, but I’m almost certain that it was the fault of electronics in my acoustic-electric guitar. So in general, I haven’t experienced any technical issues throughout these years.

I think that the major disadvantage of that amp is that makes you completely unproductive. It sounds really good, so it makes you want to play more and more. And although that’s inspiring, it can affect other areas of your life as well.

As weird as it sounds, I can’t think of any huge disadvantages of this amp. It sounds awesome, it looks good, it has two channels and it doesn’t cost that much – who needs anything else?

Cheaper Alternatives

If you think that the Acoustasonic is not a right fit for you and you’re trying to find something more affordable, don’t worry – there’s a few more affordable options out there.

Firstly, you should consider getting the Fender Acoustasonic 15 – it’s a smaller version from the same series of amps. It’s a bit cheaper and it still quite powerful, so it should work really well as a practice amp. On the other hand, it only has one channel, so if you want to play and sing at the same time, you won’t be able to do it.

Another option is the Blackstar FLY 3. It’s a small, battery-powered acoustic amp that is also great for practicing at home or playing live. But again, it only has one channel, so it’s not the best for singer-songwriters.

Lastly, you can also check out the Blackstar Acoustic Core. This amp is really similar to the Fender Acoustasonic 40 and it also has two channels. Still, from what I’ve read online, some people are experiencing problems with the sound quality. So although it’s cheaper, it may be a bit more risky.
